Looking at my recent blog entries, I feel like this blog has become a non-stop promotion machine. And while the point of this blog is in some part promotion, that's not the entire purpose of the blog. I also needed a spot to ramble, whine, complain, and just be silly. So, enough! There will be enough time for promotion tomorrow and the next day. Today is just for silliness and randomness. For now, let's see what I can talk about. Hmmm.... my newest obsession? Tackling the Dragon's Tail. There is this 11-mile stretch of road running from Tennessee to North Carolina. There are no turn-offs, no driveways. It's 11 miles and 318 curves. It's called the Dragon's Tail and it's awesome. Here is a video giving some of the highlights of the Dragon.
My brother and I both own Mini Coopers. There is a special set of days called Minis on the Dragon that we're hoping to do. It's in May and a ton of Minis descend on this stretch of road for some fun. It's a little insane, but it looks like some killer fun.
So now that I've broken the seal on the videos, let's see what else I can throw at you. Apparently, my brother spends a lot of time on YouTube, and he is nice enough to find the cool stuff for me to pass along. Here's this video that I thought was funny:

Out Sick
I have crawled out of bed today to tell you that I'm crawling back into bed. I'm sick. It came on fast last night. I was laying in bed watching South Park when I realized that I was feeling hot and stuffy. Less than an hour later, I was full blown sick. Sort of flu-like. I think I caught it from my niece, but seeing as she's only one, I won't punch her in the nose for it. Besides, I think she still feels worse than me.
So, today I am taking the day off. I've got some juice, a turkey sandwich, a stack of DVD's, four books, and a comfy bed waiting for me. I don't want to leave my faithful readers high and dry today so I have a couple videos.
For the gamers, I saw this while watching South Park last night and thought it was AWESOME. Tell me, how many video games can you name in this video?
And here's a video for anyone who has yet to discover Freddie Wong. His videos are highly awesome and terribly addictive.

Anxiety Grows
There's only a few more days until the release of Pray for Dawn and I have to admit that I am growing more and more anxious about the book hitting the shelves. Now, I have to admit that I get nervous before every book, despite the fact that I would now be considered something of a veteran with four books in the shelves. There are still things that I'm learning and mistakes that I'm making, but the learning curve isn't as steep as it once was.
I think one of the reasons that I am so anxious about this book is due to the fact that I changed storytellers with Pray for Dawn. The point of view switches from Mira, the vampire, to Danaus, the vampire hunter. I thought after listening to Mira tell her side of the story for three books that it was time for Danaus to have his shot at the spotlight for a while.
Another important thing about Pray for Dawn is that is very quietly lays out what both Mira and Danaus want most in the world, what is truly important to them.
And naturally, I start to move along their relationship a little further in this book, which should please some readers who have been patiently waiting for Danaus to make a move.

Also, some of you may have seen it already, but I have posted below the video I made last fall while in Savannah. This video takes a look at some of the places that appear in Pray for Dawn. Enjoy!

More Video Goodness
Everyone likes videos, right? I've been playing around on the computer for the past few hours and I've got a new video for you to watch. The first one is actually from the Q&A session I did at my October 2009 book signing promoting the release of Dawnbreaker. I talk about the writing process, the series, and a few little tidbits about Pray for Dawn and Wait for Dusk.

Blog Roaming
So, yesterday wasn't the greatest of days. I sat down to get some work done on my Super Secret Special Project when I discovered that my iPod was missing. I searched everywhere, took the house apart, and I actually CLEANED. The iPod is gone. I had used it that morning during my dayjob and then it was gone. It was in that moment that I discovered how important it was for me to be able to listen to my music while I work. My iPod ranks right up there with my laptop in importance. Music helps me set my writing pace. I puts me in the right mood for a specific scene. Music helps to down out both background noise and the rest of the world while I'm working. My music keeps me sane. *sigh*
As a result, I did what I had to do. I bought a new one so I could write again. I'm running behind on my second project, but I at least feel like I can work again. If the old one magically appears, I'll be giving it to my brother or my father.
But enough complaining to me. I have been making the rounds again on the Internet, visiting other blogs and causing general mischief and mayhem. Here are some of the links in case you missed them.

Road Rally Video

Back to the Grind
It's time to get back to the business of working with Mira and Danaus. I took a few days off and had the enjoyable chance to play with a special project that will probably take me the better part of a year to finish due to my other deadlines. However, I'm in no rush to finish it at this point. I'm more interested in furthering the story in the Dark Days series.
Tonight, I start the task of revisions. With any luck, I will get at least 3 chapters done (but I'm not going to hold my breath). I honestly don't know how long it's going to take until I get in there and start mucking around.
In the meantime, I did have a few updates completed to the website.
I now have a contact me page that is accessible off the author bio page. It includes links to all my blogs, networking sites, discussion board, and even an email address.
The gallery page has been updated to include my pictures from the 2009 New York Comic Con. In a few weeks, I'll be adding pictures from my Florida trip to the Romantic Times Booklovers Conference.
The gallery page also includes both of my new videos.
There is also a link off of the Dayhunter page that now includes the Chapter 1 excerpt if you haven't had a chance to read it. And don't forget that if you haven't pre-ordered it, you better hurry. The book is coming out in roughly 21 days!!

Book 4 Is Done!

Book 4 is done at long last!
I am happy to report that I have finally finished the rough draft of Book 4. Not only that, but I got it done with enough time to complete a round or two of edits, which will make my editor more than a little happy. The book is done, but it still needs a good deal of work. I have some subplots to weave in a little better and a character that needs to introduced a little sooner in the books, say the first chapter. I don't know yet how I'm going to accomplish some of these things, but I'll figure it out. I just need to take a break for a couple days. Let my brain cool off. It's kind of overheated during the past few weeks as I've toiled away on this book.
So, here's a quick recap:
~This is the fourth book in the Dark Days Series
~It's the seventh book I've finished, though I doubt the first three will ever see the light of day
~The word count is currently 107,307 words
~There are 32 chapters
~There are oodles of mistakes and typos
~The book ends on a cliffhanger and I don't plan to change that. (Insert evil author laugh)
In other news, I'll be doing a radio show tomorrow at 1 p.m. Eastern time called Authors on Air: The Beyond. The topic is writers on writing.
