Recap of Day 1 at RT Convention

I am happy to report that I was a good girl this morning. I got up at 7 am and went straight to the fitness center, where I worked out for at least 30 minutes. Of course, all that wonderful progress has been destroyed by the cafe mocha that I'm currently drinking, but at least the muscles got a good stretch.

Yesterday seemed completely overwhelming. I guess it's just been too long since I've done the writers' conference thing, but I feel more centered and ready to handle the crowds today. After checking into the room, I registered and quickly ran off to Rachel Vincent's Young Adult panel. (No, I have no plans to write a YA. I was just there to see a friend.) From there, I returned to the room and spent a little time going over the rest of the schedule to plan out my time at the conference and relax -- I'm still trying to tackle the last of this cold.

I meandered around the conference for the rest of the late afternoon and then we were off to dinner at a very nice steakhouse not far from the hotel. I was able to hang with Melissa Marr, Jeaniene Frost, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Carrie Ryan, Allie Carter, Rachel Vincent, Vicki Pettersson, Holly Black, and Kelley Armstrong. I know, a total A-List of writing stars! It was a lot of fun and the food was excellent.

We returned to the hotel for a brief nightcap and then we stumbled off to our respective beds where I collapsed around midnight.

I haven't taken any pictures yet because I wasn't smart enough to bring my camera with me yesterday. I have it today. However, Keri Arthur was kind enough to post a few.

For now, I'm sitting in a semi-quiet but very obvious spot where I WILL get some progress done on book 6. If you see me, stop by for a chat!

Sounds like you had a really good time. I bet the other authors were excited to meet you too!

You're so sweet. I may have 3 books on the shelf, but sometimes I still feel like a newbie.

I can't imagine having enough focus to write while at the convention. You must be the Queen of Focus:) By the way, was the steakhouse wait staff still sane after you guys left? *snicker*
