Good Writing Day

It was a rough start, but it turned out to be a really good writing day. I am very, very pleased. What's more, it makes me optimistic that I will be able to keep this pace so that I can finish the book on time! I currently have a daily word count goal of 3,000 words every day, including weekends and holidays. (There's no rest for the wicked) Typically, my word count goal is around 2,000 words, but I'm starting this book a little later than I wanted due to a number of edits that rolled in that I hadn't accounted for when I made out my schedule.

I finished the day with more than 3,600 words under my belt and even managed to sneak in a training session at the gym. It proves to me that I can balance it all if I am careful and dedicated to my work.

The chapter that I finished went exactly how I expected, which is always nice when the characters behave how you want them to behave. What's more, Rowe even managed to surprise me by showing a little more insight and compassion that I thought possible for him. Hmmmm..... Have I found a soul worth saving? Of course, the real question is whether he wants to be saved? Most days, I have my doubts.

Even better, I can't wait to work on tomorrow's chapter. It's going to be even more fun than today's as I get to revisit some familiar ground and work on a blossoming relationship.

One strange habit that I have is that I try to finish out a chapter if I'm close to my word count, even if it means going over my goal. Also, I won't end a chapter and begin a new chapter in the same sitting if I can avoid it. It's like my brain needs a slight break between chapters. However, when I finish a chapter and I'm about to shut down for the night, I will try to write the first line of the next new chapter. It helps me set my mindset and mood for that new chapter.

So as a rare treat, here is the first line of Chapter Four of Book 6. It might not actually survive the editing process, but it at least shows you where my mind is as I go into tomorrow's writing session.

“Damn it, Mira! Are you going to need a tissue or can you pull it together?” Danaus taunted in a low whisper, a smirk pulling at one corner of his mouth.

That one line makes me want to read the entire book JUST to see why she might need a tissue and why Danaus is being a douche:)

3600 words is awesome. I'm just now doing word counts and I can say you have me BEAT to hell and you worked out!

Danaus is just giving her a little grief. It's all in good fun, though I think Mira wants to kick in him the shin with a pair of her pointy leather boots. :)
