Yes, it's the first of November and for all writers out there, it means that it is officially the start of NaNoWriMo. In other words, National Novel Writing Month! It's time to get started on those book ideas that have been rattling around in the back of your brain. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write a total of 50,000 words by the end of November. This is roughly an average of 1,700 words per day. Not a difficult goal. While in most cases, that is not an entire novel, it does account for a large chunk of one and gets you on pace to finish that novel.
Considering that I am technically between projects at the moment, I will be participating in NaNoWriMo this month. The novel was started a little while ago, but I have been told that I need to revise the beginning so I will pretty much be starting from scratch as I begin the month. My login name is JocelynnD if you want to become my writing buddy. If you're interested in joining in the fun, the website is http://www.nanowrimo.org/. It only takes a couple minutes to set everything up and then you're on your way.
There's no prize if you reach your goal other than the satisfaction that you accomplished a difficult feat and proved to yourself that you CAN write a novel.
Also, if you live in the Northern Kentucky area, I have heard a rumor that Altiora Coffee House in Taylor Mill, Kentucky is going to have a NaNoWriMo on November 6. If so, I plan to attend. I will post more details as soon as this is confirmed.
In the meantime, get started on those novels and GOOD LUCK!!
