My goal is a short blog entry. Let's see how that goes.
It's raining outside and my only desire is to curl up somewhere dark and fall asleep listening to the rain. However, there's work to be done and I can't put it off for a non-rainy evening. Particularly when I'm feeling like I'm actually close to finally making a breakthrough on the plotting of Book 5.
I've been slowly chipping away at this thing as if it were a block of marble, trying to find its true, hidden self. We're getting close. Mira can't tell me much this time around. There's a handful of other characters that need to finally step up and give me some valuable information to propel this story forward. Yet, I will say that with this one, I give back some of Mira's darker impulses. She's been reining herself in recently and it's time to let go a little bit. I'm just not sure how Danaus is going to take it.
So, tonight's goal is to finish sketching out what I think of as the infamous five who appear in Book 5. To do such, I've fallen back into some old practices that saw me through the plotting of Nightwalker and Dayhunter. I've popped in a tour video for Nine Inch Nails, dimmed the lights, and relaxed. It's time to let my mind slip back into the dark, gritty places where the fanged ones hide.

I've been sitting out on the porch swing at night watching the moon as well as sitting out there during storms lately with my alphasmart. It can set just the right backdrop for inspiration. :-)
Is there any other artists that you like to listen to while you write?
I've found several authors creating playlists (either of what they listened to while writing or what they imagine would be the soundtrack to go along with the book) lately. I think it's rather intriguing. I have seen Stephenie Meyer and Rachel Caine do so. It is fun for me as a reader to listen to that music while reading the books. I haven't seen J. R. Ward make a list, but I've created my own playlist to listen to while reading her books based on songs she mentions the characters listening to (including mostly rap, which I usually dislike but which helps set the scene well). Ok, I didn't mean to ramble so, I was just trying to explain why I was wondering about any other artists you listen to while writing.
