I Opened the Box

With more than a little anxiety, I did finally open the box that contained my manuscript for Burn the Night: the sixth book in the Dark Days series. There were a lot of line edits. I mean, a lot! Enough that the book is now 5,000 words trimmer and lighter. She almost looks sexy now.

Of course, my job is to now turn her into an anorexic version of herself before I am allowed to plump her back up again. The first complaint is that the book starts too slow and you know that I'm not one for slow openings. So the first four chapters have to go and will probably be condensed and tightened into a sleek two chapters. There's an entire new plotline that needs to be added and I've been told that I need to amp up the Mira and Danaus scenes. I had to grin at that one. That's a green light that I'm happy to receive.

I am debating whether to completely dump one minor subplot, but I am reluctant because it was the whole purpose of introducing a character a few books ago. I would really like to tie that up. On the other hand, I am looking at introducing a character that a lot of people have been looking forward to meeting. I hope this character lives up to everyone's expectations.

By the end, I'll probably trim another 5,000 words and add close to 15,000 words.

In the meantime, I've got a goody for my readers. I've been alerted to the fact that a new Simon's Cat video has finally been released!! Here is the latest one for your enjoyment.

I swear to you, this is my cat.

I love how the cat stop, licks himself, and then starts playing again a second later. This is SO my cat too. I have one that part Siamese though and she wouldn't be caught dead playing with a box. She's too cool for that.LOL

Well, imagine that, "amp up the Mira and Danaus scenes". Go, Jocelynn Go. LOL
