Insanity: German Style

Or maybe I should just call it Insecurity....

Nightwalker was released in German today and I have to admit that I spent the better part of thirty minutes letting Google translate German blogs for me so I can get a feel for how readers are reacting to the book. I know, it's sad. I'm supposed to be working on the revisions for Wait for Dusk.

I have been a professional writer for just over two years now (measured from when I acquired both an agent and a publisher) and there are things that I'm still learning. I'm learning that most writers are more than a little insecure about their work. I'm learning that paranoia is par for the course. I'm learning that you have to be more than a little insane to agree to these things. I'm learning that your skin will never be thick enough and too often you'll brush praise off as luck. I'm learning that if your a good writer and dedicated to your craft, you will never stop learning.

So, I've got a little release-day stress, which I never expected since Nightwalker has already been out for more than a year. And I'm sure I'll do it all over again when Dayhunter is released in May in German. Check out the covers I found! Pretty sweet!

In the meantime, this writer is going to step away from the Internet (or at least the Google search function) for a while, and finishing editing a handful of chapters so she can enjoy some of the weekend.

Also, don't forget that I'll be signing books in West Chester, Ohio on Saturday along with a number of great authors. Stop by and visit us!

I'm curious how the German edition will be. Maybe I'll purchase it for my daughter. I recently bought Nightwalker in English, the short story within Unbound showed me I MUST read it. Didn't have enough free time to do so yet :(
In general I'm a bit disappointed how English books 'bout supernaturals are translated or maybe it's just that German isn't mighty enough to bring up fitting phrases for slang expressions. That's why I'm reading them in English... :)

Oh, I already wrote the following comment under an other thread, but now I see it more fits in here...
Maybe I'm also off topic but nevertheless I'll tell my strange experience I have had yesterday again:

I walked into a press-store in Berlin, Station Friedrichstraße (Germany) with a friend, who wanted to buy a journal. So I waited and looked around. I laid my eyes on a pile of different books and just one cover - I don't know why - caught my attention: Nightwalker.
That's not really strange to this point, but I turned the book and read the text on the backside (in German): "Mit eiserner Hand wacht die Vampirin Mira..." Then I stopped...
Now you have to know: My Name is MIRA! ;)
That's strange, isn't it?
I bought the book and now I'm curious what happens in this book, even if it's odd to read my name in there and all over this thread! ;)
Greetings from Berlin!
Mira

Incredible covers. I imagine I would be just as curious.

If I ever become grossly confident, then I need to go back to the drawing board. I've always believed, that little bit of insecurity keeps me improving and striving to better myself. (Hugs)Indigo

I have to say, the covers are pretty cool! I definitely prefer the original U.S. covers, but the German one's are neat!
