Four Words to Live Your Life By

Back Up Your Work.

Sorry I’ve not been around much, but I have a little rule that I try to adhere to: never blog while angry. And yes, I’ve been quite angry for the past several days. You see, the hard drive on my laptop is dead. It crashed and burned over the weekend for some mysterious reason.

The result:

Photos gone.

Music gone.

Manuscript… we’re still waiting to see. I have a back-up copy, but it’s not the most up-to-date that it could be. The Geek Squad has sent out my hard drive to see what can be recovered. In the meantime, I’m starting from where I left off with the last saved copy in hopes that they can actually recover the missing data.

I’ve purchased a new laptop, which is very nice, but it’s not my old laptop, which was all broken in and arranged how I like it. So, while I’m no longer angry, I am still quite cranky. I like new laptops and new toys, but only when I choose to get them. Not when I’m forced.

So, I repeat. Back Up Your Work.

Oh, I am so sorry! I was fortunate that I didn't lose anything really important when my own died, but it is maddening to have to deal with. I'd be screwed if mine went now. I still haven't learned my lesson.

Oh no! I hope they're able to retrieve it!

Ouch. They can usually recover a lot from a dead hard drive, although it can be expensive.

Good luck.
