Trip Preparation

I’m back from Pittsburgh, and I’ve got to say that Dave Grohl and the rest of Foo Fighters know how to put on an amazing show. The opening act was Year Long Disaster, which was very good. I’ll probably be picking up some of their music. Next up was Supergrass, which also put on a strong show.

And then it was on to the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl was freaking awesome. They opened with “Let it Die,” which is one of my favorite songs off the new album and then went straight into “The Pretender”. They did songs off every album. My brother and I had fantastic seats. He took a few pictures and videos with his phone. I’m still waiting to get copies. The cool part is that they had a narrow runway that came off the main stage and went out into the crowd. About halfway through the performance, Dave started walking down the runway and then paused. A second stage descended from the ceiling and connected with the end of the runway, so that people at the back of the event center now had front row seats for the acoustic set of the show. Dave Grohl knows how to take care of his fans. They even brought Pat Smear along for the tour and it was cool to see him play with the band. The Foo Fighters played for more than two hours. By the end of it, I was partially deaf and my vocal chords felt shredded from all the screaming and singing along. It was totally worth the five-hour drive to see them.

But I’m back now and it’s time to get back to work. I’ve been hearing from readers that Nightwalker is appearing on some of the shelves. If you’ve not pre-ordered it, the book should be available as of Tuesday at all your major book stores. In addition, it should also be at Wal-Mart and Target.

The only official book signings I have planned will be in San Francisco at the RWA conference. However, I plan on going to a few local bookstores and signing whatever copies they happen to have in stock. These are not official book signings. Just me popping in when I have some free time and signing whatever is on hand, then leaving. It’s too early in my writing career to be holding non-event related signings.

Finally, I will be making an appearance over at Kim Harrison’s Yahoo Group called the Hollows. I will be over there officially starting on Monday and will be hanging out for a few weeks discussing the book. I would definitely sign up to be a part of this interesting group if you haven’t already. Not only will we have a forum to discuss Nightwalker, but if you love Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan Series, they are a great group for discussion.

I've never seen the Foo Fighters live, but I'd love to. Sounds like a great show. Glad you had a good trip. :)

I pre-ordered Nightwalker on the 10th, and Amazon is estimating an August 4th shipping date. I'm going to have a strong temptation to pick it up at the bookstore on Tuesday. :)

You can always give the spare to a friend. :) I also pre-ordered on Amazon just to see how long it would take. I got an email stating that it shipped on Saturday, but it won't arrive until Aug. 1. I'm hoping it's not that slow.

I went to WalMart today and as usual I had to go look at the books section. I saw your book on the shelf! It was the last one! After I squealed and clapped my hands together like an over excited six year old I snatched it off the shelf before anyone else could. I'm so excited and can't wait to start reading it!

My Amazon order shipped just after midnight (Monday). Yay!

I'll probably still get an extra copy for my sister. :) There's something about seeing an author's first book in the bookstore and then buying it there that's exciting.

Oh, could you tell us here which bookstores you went to and signed copies at? I would LOVE a signed copy. I'm about an hour outside of SF, though, but if I begged they'd send me one, right? :D
