Road Trip

My recent break from writing has gone fairly well, even though I broke down last night and started to do a little work on Book 3. It can’t be helped. If I’m not writing, I don’t know what to do with myself.

However, I am guaranteed to take a break this weekend since I’m going on a short road trip. My youngest brother and I are headed to Pittsburgh this weekend for the Foo Fighters concert. We’re both big fans and even though there were concerts slightly closer to our home in Cincinnati, this was the only concert that fit into both of our schedules. Dave Grohl is worth the drive.

When I get back, I have to work my day job on Monday and then on Tuesday, July 29, Nightwalker will finally be released to readers!!!! I can’t wait. I took the day off work and I’m planning to hit several of the bookstores that surround me to sign copies. From there, I’m off to San Francisco for the RWA conference where I will be once again rooming with my good friend and fellow urban fantasy writer Rachel Vincent. Be sure to check in next week for pictures and updates from the conference. I will be posting to my blog as well as to my HarperCollins Microsite.

Right now, I’m heading back into Book 3. I’m not currently happy with the plot. I have to take a break from the writing and go back into plotting mode. I just feel like something is missing and I haven’t put my finger on what it is just yet.

THREE more days! I wish I was going to RWA but the registration price was $$ that I do not have. :( I hope you all have fun in SF. You're lucky the weather is supposed to cool down, although I doubt it makes a difference because SF always seems to be the same.

Hi Jocelynn, my name is Lacie and I go to school with Stephen...(he probably mentioned a crazy book girl in his effective speaking class last quarter....thats me!) Anyway, I picked up your book yesterday at the Waldenbooks in Lancaster Mall, and I realized its not supposed to be released for a few more days. Just wanted to let you know, I got an early copy....I'm starting to read it now!

I don't suppose you could tell us what bookstores? :D Nakyla's birthday is on the first and I wanted to get her the book as a gift since we're dorks and were fans of yours since Kim's signing. :) Anyway it would be awesome to come see you again even if it did mean a 2 hour drive on Tuesday for us it would be worth it! :) so... can you tell us where you'll be?
Thanks for all you do! Can't wait to read the book!

Stephanie: I'm so glad that you like the book!

Lacie: I hope you enjoy the book. If you'd like it signed, give it to Stephen and I'll sign it.

Danetteb: Yeah, Hawaii! You're so lucky. You get awesome beaches and my book early!

Star Joens: I'm not sure where I'm signing stock at. No real signings, sorry. I'm too new in the industry to earn a local book signing just yet. Email me at jocelynn DOT drake AT gmail DOT com, and we may be able to work out a way to get you a signed copy without needing to make the drive.
