Radio, Reminders, and Randomness

I'm slow getting started today, but I don't mind too much since this is one of those rare weekends where the only place that I absolutely have to go is to the grocery store. That means a weekend of watching TV, movies, and writing. I might even sneak in a little video gaming. Ahhh... good weekend.

In the meantime, I've got a couple things for readers. First, don't forget that Sunday is the LAST DAY to enter my contest insanity. Scroll down to the appropriate blog and leave a message. I will be announcing the winners on Monday.

Also, I was on Suspense Radio last night with Stephen White. If you missed the show and would like to hear it. I've got the link for you.

And finally, if you haven't stopped by my discussion board recently, I would make a visit. I recently seeded the discussion board with a number of questions and thoughts. I would love to get your input. Stop by and stir up a little discussion.

That's enough from me for now. Don't forget to enter the contest!

Radio Interview

Things are quiet at the moment as I wait for the revision letter for Book 6. I am currently doing some plotting for my next novel and a little worldbuilding. Overall, just a quiet week, which is kind of nice after the busy July that I survived.

Just a little reminder: the mega-super-awesome contest ends on Sunday, so make sure that you enter now! Just scroll down to the previous blog entry and leave a comment. I will be drawing several winners.

In addition, I will be doing a radio interview on Friday, August 13 at 9 pm Eastern time on Suspense Radio.

Here is a quick description:

"Bestselling authors Stephen White and Jocelynn Drake join us live. You will also hear book reviews, new releases, and much more await you in Suspense Radio. This is your inside source twice a week for everything that is suspense / thriller / mystery and horror. While we will release the guest list, we won't tell you everything that will be on the show, I mean after all we are Suspense Radio!"

The show is one hour long and the call-in number is (877) 666-9320 just in case you're interested in calling in with your own question!

Be sure to check it out! It's going to be fun!

Authors on Air: The Beyond

I'm keeping the blog posting short today since I'm supposed to be taking a break. I don't see that lasting long. I'm already itching to start working on a side project.

Today was the Authors on Air radio show. The topic was Writers on Writing, with Mark Henry, Jaye Wells, and myself. We had a fabulous time talking about writing, censoring, and pajamas ... I mean writing rituals.

Stop by the Author on Air: The Beyond site for interviews with Kim Harrison, Neil Gaiman, and many more awesome writers.

And don't forget to check out yesterday's posting. I posted a strange video looking ahead to Dayhunter.

Also, don't forget to pop by Rachel Vincent's blog. She's got another contest running that includes CHOCOLATE ... oh yeah, and a book.

Book 4 Is Done!

Cheer!
Celebrate!
Ring the bells!
Sing some songs!

Book 4 is done at long last!

I am happy to report that I have finally finished the rough draft of Book 4. Not only that, but I got it done with enough time to complete a round or two of edits, which will make my editor more than a little happy. The book is done, but it still needs a good deal of work. I have some subplots to weave in a little better and a character that needs to introduced a little sooner in the books, say the first chapter. I don't know yet how I'm going to accomplish some of these things, but I'll figure it out. I just need to take a break for a couple days. Let my brain cool off. It's kind of overheated during the past few weeks as I've toiled away on this book.

So, here's a quick recap:

~This is the fourth book in the Dark Days Series
~It's the seventh book I've finished, though I doubt the first three will ever see the light of day
~The word count is currently 107,307 words
~There are 32 chapters
~There are oodles of mistakes and typos
~The book ends on a cliffhanger and I don't plan to change that. (Insert evil author laugh)

In other news, I'll be doing a radio show tomorrow at 1 p.m. Eastern time called Authors on Air: The Beyond. The topic is writers on writing.

Overview:

"The Beyond continues its series with Fangs Fur and Fey. Join authors Jocelynn Drake (NYT bestselling author of Nightwalker), Mark Henry (Happy Hour of the Damned), Jaye Wells (Red-Headed Stepchild), and Maggie Stefvater (Lament) as they discuss the craft of writing. Listeners are invited to call in to ask the panel questions LIVE or enter the chat room on the day of the show to send questions in real-time. This discussion will be moderated by Eos Executive Editor, Diana Gill."

For more information, please click here.

If you miss the show, I will be posting a link to the podcast later in the day.

And finally, to celebrate the completion of Book 4 and maybe to prove that I'm just a little insane, here is a video that my brother and I worked on this weekend. I hope you enjoy it. Or at the very least, get a good laugh out of it.

Have a good one!
